To date, I’ve added less than half of the photos of Mount Evans that I have taken. The total number of exposures is something like 14,000, but the number of images I’m going to post on this site is around 650. I’ve been extra busy lately, and haven’t had time to dedicate to the site. As soon as possible, I’ll be adding more. After approximately one and a half years, we moved, and the view of Mount Evans changed. It became less convenient to photograph the mountain, but I still made a fair number of photographs from City Park.
Mount Evans Sunrise
I was never really much of a morning person. I liked to stay up late, and sleep in. Having a child changed that. For the first time in my life I took naps. I also tried to sleep whenever my kid was asleep. After all, if I didn’t sleep when he slept, I might not have gotten any at all. Fortunately, that didn’t last forever, but he was a morning person. For about 9 years, I was a reluctant morning person. The benefit was that I was awake to witness sunrise, and when you have a view of Mount Evans, it can be pretty spectacular.
Mount Evans Obscured
I wanted to photograph Mount Evans in every type of weather, even if that meant the mountain wasn’t actually visible. Sometimes the mountain would be visible and then obscured, as weather conditions changed throughout the day. On this particular day, April 30, 2011, Mount Evans was visible earlier in the day, but was obscured by clouds and storms later.
Changing Weather
One of my favorite things about watching and photographing Mount Evans from the same location for more than a year was watching how the weather would change. Day to day, and season to season

One of my favorite things about watching and photographing Mount Evans from the same location for more than a year was watching how the weather would change. Day to day, and season to season there were obviously changes. But, more dramatic were the changes that would occur in one day, or even within the span of an hour.
Some days the sunrise would be clear and sunny, a storm would roll in during the afternoon, followed by a spectacular sunset.
